Supplements?

March 3, 2008

There is a lot of debate online whether or not you should supplement raw food diets. And unprocessed food always has far more nutrients..in their natural state. But vitamin B12 is debatable. And in northern climates that don’t get any sun, we might need to supplement vitamin D. Currently I just take a supplement with B12 and vitamin D in it a couple times a week.

Journey Continues

February 27, 2008

New recipes are so much fun to try out.  I’m liking simple recipes more of the time.  I eat more fruit now, and try to eat much less fat.  I still eat a bit of cooked food occasionally..much more rarely now.  Between my detoxification sessions…some are really rough; but when I pass through them, I feel such high levels of energy.  Health is all relative.  You can think you’re quite healthy and be so far from the levels of health that are possible.  Had a mole on my arm fall off today.  I’ve done nothing different with that arm.  No moisturizers etc.  It was there for over 20 years, and it fell off without me even touching it.  It’s amazing to think of what the body can do.  Despite the sometimes rough detox, I am finding it so much fun to try new raw foods and recipes.  And between detox I can’t believe how much energy I have sometimes.

Green Smoothies mmm

February 23, 2008

Using green smoothies has helped my raw food experience a lot.  It’s helped me to maintain my weight a bit more now.  They maintain my blood sugar level for a long time..no afternoon dips even if I’ve had no time to eat anything.

Not only that but I’m beginning to see some scars that didn’t quite heal properly change and try to heal like they never could before.  This blows my mind.  A few moles on my back from a bad sunburn years ago are disappearing.  I am amazed at the power of greens, and I would really recommend to anyone that they learn more about greens.

It’s hard to get too many greens..I just try to get as many as I can.  I crave them now, whereas before the dark green salads I just ate because they were good for me.  Now I want them all the time.  The body is so wise and intuitive.

Weight Loss

February 23, 2008

Yes. Raw food diet is great for weight loss. But if you’re naturally slim like me, it isn’t always welcomed. I’ve lost atleast 10 pounds and I was slim to begin with. But I understand it’s mostly because I’m detoxing a lot. So I haven’t felt very upset about it even though all my friends are trying to feed me junk food.

Recently though..in the past month or so..I seem to be maintaining my weight a bit better. I guess because I’ve done a lot of detoxing already, and I’ve been drinking more green smoothies. Green smoothies are awesome! If you haven’t heard of them, look them up online..they give me more energy than anything else. Between detoxing I have sooo much more energy now.

So, I feel confident that over time I will put most if not all that weight back on..and for now I just smile when friends or family say I’m losing too much weight. Afterall, I’m feeling so great a lot of the time now. Don’t want to ever give this up.

Raw Food Joy!

February 23, 2008

sun01852_small1.jpgIt’s a beautiful day here in Vancouver, Canada! Just decided to start a blog about some of my experiences so far with the raw vegan diet. I have been advancing towards being a 100% raw vegan for about 5 months now. I’m not worried if I’m always 100% raw. I just get back on track when I slip and eat some cooked food. But not because I feel guilty. It’s because I’m starting to feel better and better all the time (with the higher percentage of raw foods that I consume).

Currently I average about 90-95% raw food. But that is because most of the time I am at home. When family or friends visit I’ve been eating a bit of cooked food. I do less of that over time because of the way eating raw makes me feel, and because I really don’t worry about what anyone thinks of what I eat.

I am naturally slim with a fast metabolism. But I was having several health challenges over the past few years. Including cervical cancer. Which I have no fear of now! I am still progressing and going through lots of detoxification much of the time. I have read some peoples’ descriptions on detoxification, and mine is on the rougher end. But I keep trying, and I feel good about eliminating all those toxins!

Years ago I was in a serious head on car accident. Had a lot of surgery done, and so I’ve been exposed to heavy amounts of drugs. For over 10 years I was taking anti-inflammatories with increasingly frightening side effects. Was coughing up blood more and more, and my days were so unclear and fuzzy. Currently I take herbal anti-inflammatories and I’ve been able to cut those down to half the amount so far since advancing on this raw food diet.

Well I intend to blog a few of my recent experiences and future experiences on here over time. I am sooo excited to be on this journey!
